What is Teeth Whitening?
If your teeth are yellowed, dulled and stained, you may be unhappy with the way that you look. Certain lifestyle habits as well as the act of aging can all have a negative impact on the way that your teeth look. You may feel unhappy with your appearance and are ready to make a change. We offer take-home and in-office options to help you meet your smile goals.
Why is Teeth Whitening needed?
You might be attending a big event and want to look your best. You may just want a boost to your confidence and smile. Regardless of why whitening may be needed, it is offered in a way that can benefit your teeth and your self-esteem. Whether you’re a smoker, coffee drinker or are taking a medication that alters your smile’s color, professional whitening can be an effective way to brighten your appearance.
Who is a good candidate for Teeth Whitening?
Most people who want to whiten their teeth can easily and safely do so. Whitening doesn’t lighten the color of restorations, like bonding, veneers, crowns and bridge work. Some patients experience some mild sensitivity during and immediately after treatment. This is normal and only temporary, so you can benefit from a healthy, white smile.
What happens during Teeth Whitening?
For in-office whitening, we will apply a whitening gel to your teeth. This gel is helpful in lifting and dissolving deep stains. A light is typically used in conjunction with the whitening gel formula. In-office whitening takes just about an hour, and you’ll leave with a smile that is shades whiter and brighter than before. Take-home whitening is ideal for patients who would rather whiten in the comfort of their own house. We will take impressions to make custom whitening trays just for you. You’ll be provided with a whitening gel that is used inside of these trays and worn for a specified amount of time.
